HONES [Ah-Nes]
Hailing from the land of the northern seas, hones is a distinctive personality in the international dj scene. he is known as much for astonishing crowds with his track twists as for packing the dance floor, and playing to diverse audiences a blend of hip-hop, R&B, house, reggae and classic songs from the 70’s and 80’s. A descendant of Denmark’s first Viking king, Harald blue tooth, this native of Copenhagen, Denmark began conquering the music scene at the tender age sixteen, performing dj sets throughout Denmark. in 1990, he landed a music director position at Copenhagen’s power 101.2 fm. he eventually became host of his own drive time show that focused mainly on rock music. When the show was cancelled, he then launched Pickup-en(needlz) which became widely recognized as a preeminent hip-hop show. The show led to dj gigs at Copenhagen hot spots like Konrad lounge, jazz house, Nasa, and x-ray. afte a deal with Sony music Denmark. Hones realized that changed was needed, and stoped recording his self-titled debut album under his previous moniker slim $, and set his sights on New York. Arriving in 1999, he immediately began djing at New York’s hottest haunts – Float, Eugene, cheetah, vue, industry,Avalon and the former Russian Tearoom. Additionally, he lent his talents to high profile private events ranging from Patti Labelle's artist showcase, Christmas parties for elite model management and television’s law & order to the US open’s official after party & Alicia Keys fundraiser. Since then Hones have been playing a wide variety of venues and have been featured in New York Times, German radio ARD, and appeared on the Japanese morning show Fujisankee TV. From b-boys seeking hip-hop to Electro-loving fashionistas, Hones continues to astound his audiences from the united states to Scandinavia and plans to expand his horizons within north America, Asia and Europe in 09 |
